Lessons

Reading “Lesson“ by Gisele Bundchen with my cute “Rio“

I would like to share a book written by my queen Gisele Bündchen. This book is Lessons Gisele has been learning and experiencing in her life and her path to her meaningful life. I admire people who are open about their struggles. Few people have gotten to know the real Gisele, a woman whose private life stands in dramatic contrast to her public image. This book reveals the inner life of Gisele, and I have learned her great openness and vulnerability through Lessons. Now I feel the weight being lifted off my shoulders and will try to do simple things in my life because of this book.

Everything in life starts with a dream. But first, the dream needs to be clearly defined and, more importantly, you need to understand why you want it.-said Gisele. This message really reached my heart, and I consider what my real dream is again. I know Gisele personally but didn’t know her past and how she became the highest-profile individual, so it was a really great opportunity to understand her more than ever. As her personal trainer, I relate with Gisele as a model, as a mother and a wife. I could also see she is a very well-read, insightful, and thoughtful person and there was plenty in this book to get inspired by. Her “Lessons” cover topics ranging from the importance of family and nature to food and self-awareness. Much of the book focuses on the ways in which she maintains balance, continues to experience joy, and brings meaning to her life.

Summary:

Gisele Bündchen's journey began in southern Brazil, growing up with five sisters, playing volleyball, and rescuing the dogs and cats around her hometown. She wanted to become either a professional volley player or a veterinarian. But at the age of 14, fate suddenly intervened in the form of a modeling scout, who spotted her in São Paulo. Four years later, Gisele's appearance in Alexander McQueen's memorably rain-soaked London runway show in spring 1998 launched her spectacular career as a fashion model and put an end to the "heroin chic" era of fashion. Since then, Gisele has appeared in almost 400 ad campaigns and on over 1200 magazine covers. She has walked in more than 470 fashion shows for the most influential brands in the world. Gisele has become an icon, leaving a lasting mark on the fashion industry.

But until now, few people have gotten to know the real Gisele, a woman whose private life stands in dramatic contrast to her public image. In Lessons, she reveals for the first time who she is and what she's learned over the past 37 years to help her live a meaningful life--a journey that takes readers from a childhood spent barefoot in small-town Brazil, to an internationally successful career, motherhood, and marriage to quarterback Tom Brady.

A work of great openness and vulnerability, Lessons reveals the inner life of a very public woman.

Life is like dancing in the rain

I knew Gisele is the philanthropist and humanitarian who is deeply concerned about the state of the world, for which she has great compassion and idealism. She has a perfect personality and will spend her life trying to realize some aspect of her utopian dream, sacrificing money, time, and energy for a better world. It was an honor and happy to be a tiny part of her life. Every time I see her, I bring only positive energy because that is my job and best for her as a samurai behind her. She taught me more than I gave Muay Thai lessons. When she trains Muay Thai, she is just the same as a busy mom. However, I would never expect she has such a tough past by the time I read the book.

Feel your “ki”

Her physical stamina is strong, and she loves mental and physical exercise. She keeps herself physically or mentally busy at all times, and she feels better spending time outdoors and eating natural foods. Because of her, I became a more nature lover even though I am from a concrete jungle, Tokyo, Japan. We always talk about food because we both love foods! Yes, I have been inspired by her.
I am still figuring out to find a path to my own meaningful life. Through this book, of course, I am afraid of comparing myself, who came from Japan to the US at 18yrs old, with a little girl at 14yrs old from Horizontina, Brazil, but felt so close to my queen after reading her lessons. The book made me more down to the earth and made me respect my parents. Hats off to those who have kids. I can’t wait to be a father one day.

I read this book in 2 days because I was so into the book. The more I understand her, the more I reflect on my own past as a non-American individual.

I remember she told me that she spent her early career in Tokyo. She was in Japan at 14 years old, on the other side of the world, and she didn’t speak English or Japanese at all then.

Gisele’s experience taught her something important.
“I’d done something, for myself, but mostly to try to please others,” Gisele wrote. “The lesson here is to listen to yourself first and be clear about what you want before making important decisions. After all, you will be the one living with the results.” I strongly keep her message in my heart and will have such a happy family like Tom and Gisele one day. I wish you would learn something from the book too.
