Thanksgiving 2022

Thanksgiving 2022

This year, we had a bit of a twist on the traditional turkey. Instead of the usual roast, I covered the turkey with caul fat. Yes, you read that right, caul fat! It's a thin membrane of fat that surrounds the stomach of animals, and it's a secret weapon in the kitchen. When it's roasted, it melts away, basting the meat and keeping it juicy while adding a rich flavor.

As for the sides, we had a colorful array of roasted Brussels sprouts, beets, sweet potatoes, and green beans. And of course, we couldn't forget the stuffing. But our family tradition of Boston baked beans made this year's feast truly special. It's a dish that's close to our hearts, and it's always a hit at the dinner table.

Now, let's talk about the appetizers. This year, we went out with French-style pate, goat cheese covered with homemade cranberry jam, and pistachios. It was a dream come true for my taste buds!

Appreciation and dream on my plate

But what made this Thanksgiving truly special was the company. This year, we had the pleasure of hosting Masuo, the CEO of my start-up company, Tsurumen Inc, and my colleague, Taro. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect on a deeper level, and we all left the dinner table feeling more like a family than ever before.

As I look back on this Thanksgiving, I'm filled with gratitude. Not just for the delicious food, but for the love and camaraderie that filled our home. It's a reminder of why I do what I do. Cooking isn't just about feeding the body; it's about nourishing the soul. And there's no better time to do that than Thanksgiving.

So, here's to another year of culinary adventures, shared meals, and heartfelt connections. I can't wait to see what the next year brings.

Happy Thanksgiving 2022
