What is Biohacking?
There is no silver bullet for better-wellbeing. In terms of developing health and well-being, the desired holistic change can only be achieved by implementing several methods simultaneously. Biohacking is all about optimizing human performance, health, and well-being by utilizing science, technology, and a deep understanding of human physiology and nutrition. Biohacking is also an art unto itself, the “sculpture“ of which is the individual.
I was invited to the biohacker summit and visited Helsinki, Finland, and had a fantastic experience in Finland. The 5th anniversary of Biohacker Summit gathered over 1000 health, productivity, technology, and wellbeing experts, entrepreneurs, scientists, and thought leaders and 50+ exhibiting brands under the same roof in Helsinki. It was an excellent opportunity to optimize your day and take your physical & mental performance to the next level. The topics that are covered in the event include sleep, routines, cognitive performance, productivity, diet, stress management, and recovery. This international summit has been taking place internationally, such as Estonia, Sweden, UK, and Canada, as well as Finland. It brings biohacking experts together to share their knowledge and create a transformative and game-changing experience. The focus of the conference is optimizing human performance, recovery, and longevity.
What to expect?
The 2019 Biohacker Summit had almost 50 speakers covering topics such as sleep, daily habits, cognitive performance, nootropics, and plenty more. Speakers included journalist and author Max Lugavere and the authors of Biohacker’s Handbook: Teemu Arina, Jaakko Halmetoja, and Dr. Olli Sovijärvi.
Biohacker Summit features some of the most cutting-edge exhibitors in the health, wellness, and biohacking space. Attendees will have plenty of time to immerse themselves in the following:

The event itself was designed for high-impact for exhibitors in terms of the time available to browse through the display, and for attendees to try out various products and services.

Salli Chair

I had precious networks with speakers, media, and VIPs while enjoying exceptional catering at the Upgraded Dinner, biohacker goodie bag, priority seating, and a VIP lounge with all the cool hacks and gadgets. Throughout VIP experiences, optimized Day Workshop, Upgraded Dinner, and Upgraded Offsite. Our side-events were simply legendary.
VIP Dinner
Participants mainly VIPs and invited speakers take part in a hands-on cooking workshop and 5-course fine-dining dinner served in guidance of the award-winning chef Sami Tallberg who specializes on biohacking, ketogenic, plant-based, wild and seasonal ingredients. Upgraded Dinner is a future food lab taking food, preparation, cooking, and eating to the next level with the latest science and kitchen chemistry. Biohacking techniques are used to preserve quality and increase absorption of ingredients such as foraged plants, wild games, and seasonal local produce. This is an extremely unique and rare dinner that runs more like a hands-on workshop. A true learning experience in addition to incredible flavor.
After Party
Imagine an ecstatic beach party in 26 degrees, on the white sand, shorts, palm trees, ecstatic dance, yoga, DJs, sauna, ice plunges, and conscious people - In the middle of winter in November when it is dark and cold outside! That was what Ecstatic Beach Party, the official after party of Biohacker Summit is all about. Ecstatic dance is a free-form movement journey with music spanning various genres, tempos, emotions, and intensities. I had never had such an exotic experience before! The venue just opened last month in the basement of Mall of Tripla. Yes! the party took place at the mall, where I enjoyed music, dance, beach volleyball, and of course Sauna. We love the concept of “Dance to express, not to impress”.
Upgraded Offsite
is an overnight retreat in Finnish wilderness in the guidance of some of the top biohackers on the planet. It was an exclusive wild adventure to the north to visit the legendary Sahala Estate. This epic biohacking retreat taught me everything I need to know about survival tactics, "Holy Smoke" smoke sauna, ice swimming, and other true and tested methods for longevity and increased performance. The Sahara Estate was occupied by Russians over the war period (1810) and was taken over by Jalkanen family in 1873. Sir Jalkanen the 4th (imagine one of the fittest 69-year-olds you have ever seen, a bald white Viking with 36 kg stone kettlebells in both hands sitting on a saddle ready to protect his farm from invaders) will be hosting and immersing the crew into long lost archaic Finnish biohacking techniques.
My experience at BHS in Helsinki 2019
Biohacking is a growing international trend. Biohacking is defined as better living through science, technology, and nature with biological and technological tools. Biohacking is the application of genetics, epigenetics, physiology, nutrition, and bioinformatics to take your physical & mental performance, health, and wellbeing to a new level. I had the honor of participating in the largest biohacking event in the world that connects health & wellbeing companies, medical professionals, technology experts, health investors, tech entrepreneurs, academics, nutritionists, personal trainers, and other pioneers in health and wellbeing.
Though this event and opportunity, I have found a focal point for learning faster, performing better, living longer, and enjoying more what I wake up for every day. And as I made an official announcement for partnership with BHS, I would like to work with Teemu and other team members in Finland and do my best to make the world a healthier and happier place, prevent disease, and extend human capabilities and lifespan.
