Keto mojo

I want to introduce keto mojo, which is blood ketone & glucose monitoring systems for diabetics & people on the ketogenic diet. FDA approved ketone testing meter provides fast & accurate blood level readings. It is essential to measure yourself, and Keto mojo is one of the best self-quantification devices as I have my clients use one for blood glucose control and blood ketones level.

Everybody responds differently to a ketogenic diet. Everybody needs different amounts of fats, different amounts of proteins, and varying amounts of carbohydrates to elicit the right response. And one thing that I'm huge on is making sure that you have the correct data to make the right decision.

Knowing your blood ketone levels can be great feedback. It’s objective. It’s motivating. And it is the kind of information that lets you know where you are and whether you need to make a change to reach your goals.

Those of you that know me to know that I have a scientific approach to everything that I do, especially when it comes down to the ketogenic diet. And the way that you can start getting more handle on a scientific approach for yourself is to start measuring your ketone levels.

What is Keto mojo?

Keto Mojo is one of the newly approved FDA gadgets to test the ketone levels of our body, and it can use for checking the sugar levels of diabetes patients as well. Like most of the Ketone blood checkers, it checks the level of beta-hydroxybutyrate in your body by inserting the blood test strip into the reader. The company claims Keto-Mojo to be the best & accurate reader for checking out the ketones level in our body and the readings given in millimolar concentration or mmol (Medical measurement of ketones).

By using the add on into your home, you can get the accurate readings of:

  • Ketones

  • Glucose

  • Hemoglobin

  • Hematocrit

Ketone Ranges

Below 0.5 mmol/L is not considered ketosis - at this level, you’re far away from maximum fat-burning.

Between 0.5-1.5 mmol/L is light nutritional ketosis - you’ll be getting a good effect on your weight, but not optimal.

Around 1.5 – 3 mmol/L is what’s called optimal ketosis and is recommended for maximum weight loss.

Values of over 3 mmol/L aren’t necessary - that is, they will achieve neither better nor worse results than being at the 1.5-3 level.

Higher values can also sometimes mean that you’re not getting enough food. For type 1 diabetics, it can be caused by a severe lack of insulin.

Below 0.5 mmol/L If you’re readings are too low you may need to avoid all obvious sources of carbs, but also to be careful with your protein intake.

Excess protein will converted into glucose in the body - large amounts of protein can also raise your insulin levels somewhat, which compromises optimal ketosis.

Between 0.5 & 3 mmol/L Nutritional Ketosis **1.5-3 mmol/L is the optimal range for fat burning** Known as nutritional ketosis, a state where the body is using ketones as a fuel source efficiently and safely In individuals without diabetes or in those with controlled diabetes, having insulin on board to maintain healthy blood sugar levels keeps ketone production in the safe range This is achieved by reducing carbohydrate-intake to below 50 grams, because when glucose from food is limited, but blood sugars are still in a healthy range and enough insulin is present, the body will begin to burn body fat for fuel instead, producing low levels of ketones in the bloodstream

Ketones in the 1-3 mmol/l range are not acidifying the body Over 3 mmol/L Starvation Ketosis Starvation ketones are simply the result of not eating enough food over the course of several hours Ketoacidosis Because ketones are acid substances, high ketone concentrations in the blood may create acidosis Ketoacidosis, commonly referred to diabetic ketoacidosis, is a very dangerous state where an individual with uncontrolled diabetes is effectively starving due to lack of insulin In normal individuals, or those with well-controlled diabetes, insulin acts to cancel the feedback loop and slow and stop the overproduction of ketones (insulin has a suppressant effect on ketone production)

There is a multitude of different ways to measure your ketone levels. Until you actually start measuring your ketones in your blood, you give yourself the ability to truly see where you are at that very point in time. So what I like to do is measure my blood in the morning, then I'll measure sometimes after a workout. I'll measure it later in the day, all to just acquire data and learn where I am in the state of ketosis.

Because if you're starting a ketogenic diet, you may not know if you're actually in ketosis. You might be guessing. Sometimes you create a little bit of a placebo effect on yourself, where you make yourself think that you're in a state of ketosis when you're really not even reaping the full-blown benefits of it. So that's why I'm working with Keto-Mojo now to make sure the world knows that proper testing is truly the best way to know how you are responding to a ketogenic diet. You can gauge how you feel, you gage about how you look in the mirror, but until you see a number, it's all just a little bit of guesswork.

My experience

ketomojo

I am not a hardcore Keto guy but could get in nutritional ketosis at some point in a day. First of all, MMA is such glycogen demanded sport, so if I am in ketosis for too long, I'm pretty sure that my body almost forgets how to utilize glucose when introducing a certain amount of carbs in my system. Why I said my body “forgot how to use glucose“? Because I was in deep ketosis while I was in the post-surgery rehab period to recover faster. Indeed, ketosis helped my recovery a lot, and my physical therapist was amazed at my recovery speed during rehab.

However, when I introduced “good carbs, “ such as organic sweet potato to my diet, my blood glucose increased like a rocket to the sky! I was supposed to be insulin sensitive, but my glucose level was high for a while. This explains that my body was not used to deal with glucose when I was in ketosis for the long term.

Anyway, I think I settled my MMA fighter lifestyle with intermittent fasting and cyclic ketosis. In other words, I am just picky when it comes to carb intake time such as pre, post, and dinner time for better performance and recovery. Keto mojo is essential for me to visualize my blood glucose and ketone level.

How Accurate is it?

My BG went down like a hypoglycemia

My blood BHB level is almost same as 5 days fasting

My blood BHB level is almost same as 5 days fasting

I did a funny experiment. When I am about to start long water fasting, hop on an international flight, and need high cognitive performance for business, I use ketone ester to be a fat-burning machine or sharp, high performing businessman. This is what happened. Right after I took Ketone ester, my blood glucose dropped, and suddenly, I became hypoglycemia, and my ketone level gets a level, which is the same as 5 days fasting state. It was a cool experience to see how my body adapts and changes metabolism.

If you are about to start your days with Ketogenic diet, then I refer you for Keto Mojo.
