Tanglewood Boston Symphony Orchestra 2019
It has been 5 years since I visited the Tanglewood festival last time. This is a phenomenal concert venue! Everything from the grounds, to the views, and of course the music, it's all great. I finally got the chance to come here. It was a long drive on Mass pike to West. I wanted to go to Tanglewood for this summer so bad because have been missing opportunities for years. I have visited there with my friends back in 2014 and for my friend's piano concert back in 2010. I wish I would come here every summer, but when it comes to a long driving day, it has to be well-planed for a day of Tanglewood concert.
Tanglewood is a music venue and hold music festival every summer. The festival consists of a series of concerts, including symphonic music, chamber music, choral music, musical theater, contemporary music, jazz, and pop music. My favorite part is that you can bring food and drink like a picnic. You can enjoy music and wine on the grass.
What a lucky day! The world-famous Cello-list, Yo-Yo Ma was there today. He played all six of J.S. Bach’s Suites for Unaccompanied Cello, music that has given him, in his own words, “sustenance, comfort, and joy during times of stress, celebration, and loss.” This concert is part of his two-year global initiative, “The Bach Project,” encompassing performances he will give of the Bach suites across six continents, coupled with what he calls “days of action,” seeking “to put culture in action by bringing people and organizations together to address pressing social issues” and “invite all of us to think differently about the role of culture in society.”
The performance took place in the Koussevitzky Music Shed, a location that manages to sport excellent acoustics and blend in elements of the natural environment. You can bring your own food and drink here lawn seats.
If you appreciate beauty then you will find an overabundance of it at Tanglewood. Whether it is an ear for expertly executed music or an eye for bucolic landscapes and historic homes, the Tanglewood experience is as close to utopian as is possible in this flawed world. Tanglewood defines the Berkshires with its expansive, gorgeous, green lawns and views. Combine that with some of the best classical music on earth, and there is no place nicer to be in New England.
Landscape are like postcards here: hills and trees, big lake, and charming villages. According to local people, there are even bears and coyotes. It’s peaceful and grandiose: the perfect place to listen to classical music. I am telling you that it is certainly worth driving here from Boston. I got a gift for my mom, who is a music teacher at an elementary school in Japan. Can’t wait to see her reaction on FaceTime!
Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and they feature an expanded ensemble including many young performers, as well as guest stars from varied musical genres. This is my favorite outdoor venue, and it's a pleasant, lovely experience. Basically, I exposed myself to great nature, did earthing, got power from nature, as well as enjoyed music and food I brought.
Seiji Ozawa is great and a notable conductor. Seiji Ozawa Hall was built in 1994. I have been invited to my friend's concert. The interior is amazing. You can see a great construction and design at the inside of the building. I want to come back again next summer. Overall, Tanglewood is a gem that should be appreciated by all who have the good fortune to visit it. Everything was slow today. What a great day off!
